The overall goal of World Languages study in the Brandywine School District is to have students communicate effectively and understand other cultures. Students are taught aural and written comprehension in authentic patterns of the foreign language. After completing a four or five-course sequence, students should be able to communicate with a native speaker. Values and customs of the people and significant geographic, historical, literary, and political features of the respective countries are also studied. As a result, students of world languages will gain greater insight and perspective into their own language through the study of another.
