Girls Empowered is an after school club for girls in grades 9-12 at Mount Pleasant High School. This club educates, encourages, and empowers teen girls to succeed academically, critically think and make good choices, prepare for a successful pathway to and through college and beyond, and to be confident from the inside out. Members are enriched and engaged through various literacy based practices such as readings, discussions, team builders, writing exercises, critical thinking analysis, personal development activities, self –awareness tasks, and public speaking practice to enrich students’ academic, social, and leadership skills.

Mission: Girls Empowered is designed to educate, encourage, and empower teenage girls in five key areas:  leadership, academics, confidence, womanhood, and life skills. 

Participation: All participants must complete an application in order to join this club. Only serious applicants are considered. Applications can be picked up in room 215.

Purpose: Participants are taught and exposed to knowledge and resources that help each girl grow into their potential, recognize their self-worth, and help them become great students and leaders within school and their communities.

Meetings: Meetings are held once a month on Wednesdays, 2:30pm-4:00pm
