TSA STATE CONFERENCE 2016
The 2016 Delaware Technology Student Association State Conference was held on April 13 and 14 at the Delaware State Fairgrounds in Harrington, Delaware. Nearly 850 students, advisors, and judges from 45+ chapters from across the state came to participate with nearly 1887 total contest entries. The top 3 medalists for each contest were recognized for their outstanding achievement. The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) dedicated to students interested in the future of invention, innovation, engineering, and technology. Through TSA, members have the opportunity to participate in STEM based competitive events, take part in community service work, and become leaders for the organization in their school, state, and at the national level. TSA incorporates curricular and co-curricular experiences to emphasize the importance of knowledge, leadership, skill development, and teamwork.Thirty-one P.S. duPont Middle School students with their advisors John Singer, Sam Fawks, and Stephen Lee attended the two day event. Students participated in contests including Dragster Design, Engineering Design, Flight, Problem Solving, Maglev Vehicles, VEX Robotics, Prepared Speech, Rocketry, Structural Engineering, System Control Technology, Website Design, and more! The following students place in these respective TSA events:

In a separate TSA sponsored competition held in February at Mount Pleasant High School, a team from P.S. duPont participated in TEAMS (Tests of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics and Science), a one-day competition for students that allows them to apply their knowledge of skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) to issues facing our global society. Students focused on the themes of optics, genomics and space exploration, developed for the competition based on the National Academy of Engineering’s Grand Challenges. Engaging in the challenges requires critical job-readiness skills such as teamwork, analytical thinking, and multi-dimensional problem solving.
The following students representing P.S. duPont Middle School were Maura Smeader, Lauren Su, Kate Dietz, Risha Kumar, and Divita Taduvayi. They placed first in the state competition at the middle school level.
Congratulations to all of the P.S. duPont TSA members for their hard work and success.
