    This week in class:

August 28th: This week we discussed the syllabus and daily student expectations. We also discussed science lab safety.

September 5: Safety discussions were wrapped up and a quiz was taken. Students also completed a 6th grade science pre-assessment. Our work on scientific inquiry also was started with a look at the differences between inferences and observations (powerpoint on optical illusions).

September 11: Students worked on identifying minerals based upon properties and continued to improve their skills at identifying components of a scientific experiment.

September 18: Students this week are investigating how Alfred Wegener came up with his idea of continental drift. Students are exploring several activities to gather evidence in order to write a short essay on whether or not scientists should have put more credibility in his theory. Pages 7 - 15 in the EH Notebook.

September 25: Students completed their written report of Wegener's Continental Drift Theory and began studying earthquakes and how they are caused.
