Science and Engineering Program for Teachers
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology hosted the 27th annual Science and Engineering Program for Teachers (SEPT) on June 26 through July 2, 2016 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The Science and Engineering Program for Teachers is a week-long program for outstanding secondary school educators to attend lectures and workshops about current research in science and new teaching technology developed at MIT. Each summer since 1989, over 1,200 middle and high school teachers have been selected to participate in SEPT – all recognized as innovative, creative, and dedicated leaders in their schools and communities. As in past years, the SEPT Class of 2016 came to MIT to attend lectures from top scientists, try out the latest technology developed on campus, and talk shop with an outstanding group of passionate educators – professors, students, researchers, and teachers at sessions together all week long!Heather Handler from Talley Middle School and Samuel Fawks from P.S. duPont Middle School both in the Brandywine School District attended this week-long workshop along with many other teachers from around the world. On Saturday, July 2, 2016, Heather Handler presented on Current Nebulizers and How Can I Help My Child Cooperate While Using the Nebulizer and Samuel Fawks presented on A Fishy Story pertaining to sustainability, overfishing and the carrying capacity of the Earth. Here is a listing of the week-long SEPT sessions.
