• The Brandywine School District is adopting a block schedule for all students in grades 6-12.  This new schedule was recommended after several months of research by a committee of parents, teachers, administrators, and staff.  Many potential schedules were vetted, including our current seven-period schedule, but the committee’s recommendation was to adopt the A/B Block.   With the full implementation of the Common Core State Standards, the adoption of the Smarter Balanced assessment, the implementation of Response to Intervention, and our District’s commitment to blended and personalized learning, we realized several months ago that we must adopt a schedule that allows for flexibility, maximizes teaching and learning, and provides the rigor required to meet the demands of 21st century college- and career-readiness, which is our goal for every BSD student.   The A/B Block schedule allows us to do that in order to better prepare all students for graduation and beyond.
